MODERNISATION FOR AN ENERGY SUPPLY COMPANY
INITIAL SITUATION
Due to the large scope of the software, the modernisation is carried out in an agile manner on a module basis. The first module modernised by IBM iX Studio Hamburg contains the liabilities of the market partners and deals with invoice verification. This module makes it possible to check invoices and instruct payments.
PROJECT APPROACH
In the course of the modernisation, the interface of the former host application was fundamentally redesigned and adapted to the needs of the users. In order to understand the users' problems, user surveys and job shadowing provided insights and new knowledge. The previous solution required the user to have a high level of technical understanding of the structures of the databases, important information was not accessible at a glance and the solution was not oriented to the work steps of its users, but to the old structure of the host application. This made it time-consuming and confusing to train new staff and process transactions.

Delivery
The new solution offers easy access and a clear presentation of information relevant to the respective user group. This enables clerks, team leaders and department heads to perform their tasks better and to better understand their work progress. The initial response after the launch was very positive: "Easy, understandable, well structured" and "Pleasant, efficient work" were among the overtones in the feedback.
The client adopted new design principles and agile working methods according to Enterprise Design Thinking and Scrum.
